The man behind the creations is Master Chef Patissier, Ilan Lipschitz - an internationally acclaimed Pastry Chef who has studied and worked in his profession throughout Europe. He came to South Africa to share his passion and introduce his creations to the food for the Foodservice industry and played the leading role in starting and establishing the company. He has passed on these skills to create an experienced and talented group of previously disadvantaged men and woman who sculpt these mouth-watering hand-crafted creations.
We provide employment for many people from the local community who are trained from scratch. Chateau Gateaux chooses to train staff in-house and teach them a new profession, which helps to uplift the local community.
Our state-of-the-art production facility boasts the latest in machinery, quality control, storage and hygiene systems. Along with our skilled team of Pastry Chefs and staff, this ensures we meet the growing local and international demand for our high quality hand-crafted desserts.
The factory is a certified ISO 22000/HACCP facility.
This certification has been achieved after almost 5 years of system, process and production development. This is considered to be the highest level quality management system achievable in food safety management and is a combination of ISO9001 and HACCP good manufacturing practices locally known as SABS0330. It places the onus on us to ensure food safety as far along the supply chain as possible.
An in-house R&D team is also constantly improving and developing new and exciting products to keep the range interesting with a selection of products to suit your personal requirements. The product range is frequently refreshed with new concepts and taste sensations.
We also develop according to briefs from selected customers seeking specific customised solutions to their Dessert and Cake requirements.
