Chateau Gateaux has grown considerably since its early days and is now South Africa's largest manufacturer of fine frozen European-style Gateaux and Desserts. We produce over 50 varieties of these delicious mouth-watering delicacies for our primary Foodservice market consisting of hotels, game lodges, guest-houses, restaurants, coffee shops, canteens and convention centres as well as the airline and shipping industries.
A range of smaller Gateaux of the same exceptional taste and quality is supplied to selected retail stores in the local Kwazulu Natal market. These are merchandised in branded freezers supplied by the company.
More recently, the company has expanded its export base of Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland to include the USA, Middle East and Norway.
We also produce customized desserts to meet selected customers specific requirements.
In 2005, the company made its boldest move. After operating for more than seven years from its old basement factory in Sydney Road, a brand new state of the art factory which was designed in accordance with ISO 22000 standards now stands proud in Durban's trendy business estate, Riverhorse Valley. Here, we have substantial space and capacity to expand our production to meet the growing demand for our range.
All the products are hand-made from scratch in an ISO 22000 certified facility. Where possible, we make our own fillings, toppings, glazes, mousses, bavarois, caramels, meringues, japonaiz, etc…using a unique version of the classical European recipes, without the use of artificial premixes, additives, colorants or preservatives. We are proud to say that each and every cake that leaves our factory has been hand crafted.
We use only the finest, real ingredients. When you order our product, expect a cake filled with fresh farm cream and no artificial vegetable-based imitation cream fillings. Only the best liquors, fine chocolate, real fruit and other quality ingredients are used to flavour and create our fine range of desserts.
